~ About Nuv Yug ~

The Hindi phrase "Nuv Yug" means "new era" or "new generation".

Nuv Yug is a non-profit tax-exempt public charity with a mission to promote awareness of Indian Cultural Arts. Over the years, Nuv Yug has developed a reputation for producing high quality programs that offer a unique cultural exchange opportunity to citizens of Raleigh and surrounding areas.

Since 2003, our flagship event Nuv Yug India Fest has been organized with support from City of Raleigh Arts Commission and many other organizations and individuals. Raleigh's India Fest attracts over 1,500 stage performers, who present almost 150 dance and music items during the festival. During the weekend, traditional crafts vendors from New York, Chicago and Florida in addition to many local vendors showcase unbelievable crafts from India. And, area\'s top restaurants offer famous Indian delicacies to visitors.

Nuv Yug's objective is to enhance the quality of life of local residents and utilize its platform to support people in need.

About Team Members

Trisha Arora

Trisha

Trisha has been an active and passionate member of different communities in the Triangle area since 2015, showcasing her talents and love for the arts by performing at various cultural festivals and association events. Her deep-rooted passion for the arts and commitment to community engagement led her to join the Nuv Yug team in 2018 as a volunteer. Recognized for her dedication and leadership, she became a member of the Board of Directors in 2021 and now proudly serves as the President of Nuv Yug.

Trisha strongly believes in the power of Nuv Yug to promote Indian cultural arts while helping the Indian American community stay connected to their roots. Her enthusiasm for organizing and supporting artistic initiatives continues to drive her efforts in making Nuv Yug experience more accessible and enriching for the general public.

Raised in Noida, India, Trisha now resides in the Triangle area, with her husband and toddler son. She is an HR professional and her expertise and passion for cultural service makes her an advocate for the arts.

Swetha Kaky

Swetha

Swetha, a long-time resident of the Triangle area and proud mother of two daughters, is deeply committed to preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Indian cultural arts. Her passion for the arts and community-building shines through in everything she does. Known for her positive spirit and social nature, Swetha believes in the power of bringing people together and making meaningful things happen. Her dedication to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring others is driven by a heartfelt desire to celebrate and pass on the beauty of Indian cultural arts to future generations, and that belief holds her to serve as a member of the Nuv Yug Board.

Professionally, Swetha works as a financial analyst at Fidelity, where she brings a strong sense of attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills to her work every day. Outside of her career, she volunteers as a teacher with the SV Temple's educational program, Gurukulam, where she teaches children the valuable lessons of the Gita, slokas, and rituals that preserve our rich cultural arts.

Swetha serves as Vice President and Treasurer of Nuv Yug.

Valarmathi Manickam

Valar

Valarmathi Manickam, affectionately known as Valar, is a Bharatanatyam dance choreographer, performer and teacher. She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of six under the guidance of Smt. Shantha Ranganathan. Currently, she continues to refine her craft under the mentorship of Smt. S. Padma, a renowned Bharatanatyam artist.

Valar specializes in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam, known for its grace, intricate footwork, and expressive storytelling. She also teaches semi-classical and folk-dance forms, reflecting her versatility and deep appreciation for diverse dance traditions. As the co-founder of Thalir Arts Academy, she has established a nurturing environment where individuals of all ages can explore and excel in classical and semi-classical arts. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Valar balances her role as a software engineer, community volunteer, and dedicated mother. She resides in the Triangle area with her husband and daughter, continuing to inspire and cultivate a love for the arts in the next generation.

Valar serves as a Vice President of Nuv Yug.

Vipin Sethi

Vipin

Vipin has been a proud resident of the Triangle area for the past eight years, where he lives with his family. A businessman by profession, he holds an MBA and brings with him a wealth of experience in leadership and management.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Vipin is deeply passionate about the arts. He has been actively involved as an actor, director, and writer, and also enjoys expressing himself through Hindi poetry. His creative pursuits are matched by his strong organizational skills, which have played a key role in successfully leading various cultural programs over the years.

Vipin serves as Director & Secretary of Nuv Yug.

Madhvi Tanwar

Madhvi

Madhvi is a dedicated homemaker and proud mother of two, recently relocated to the USA with her family. A graduate of Delhi University, she also holds a diploma in Nursery Primary Teacher Training (NPTT) from Women's Polytechnic, Delhi. With a background in teaching, Madhvi brings a nurturing spirit and a passion for learning to everything she does.

Her love for dance has led her to perform on various stages, and she continues to embrace the arts as a joyful form of expression. In her free time, she enjoys crafting and creating fun projects with her children.

Madhvi is excited to be part of the Nuv Yug team as Director and is grateful for the opportunity to contribute. She looks forward to growing alongside the team and supporting its mission of promoting awareness of Indian cultural arts and community engagement.
