Nuv Yug is searching for an
Executive Director

The Nuv Yug Cultural Organization is a five year old City of Raleigh based non-profit cultural arts organization with a mission to promote awareness of Indian cultural arts. Since 2003, it has organized India Fest – Your Gateway to India, a large cultural arts festival at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Throughout its first five years, activities have been organized by a dedicated team of volunteers; however, in line with our long term strategic plan, we have identified the need for a seasoned executive director or program coordinator to assume day to day management responsibility.

The candidate must have a proven track record with non-profit cultural arts or festival organizations, creativity, excellent organization skills, and meticulousness about details and deadlines. The ability to work well with a variety of people and an interest in learning about cultural arts from the Indian subcontinent is required. Strong relationships with arts agencies in the Raleigh area will be a definite plus.

The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities will include working with the Board to:

• create, plan and coordinate year round cultural arts programs including Nuv Yug’s flagship event – India Fest – Your Gateway to India.
• initiate partnerships with local organizations to promote Nuv Yug’s mission
• recruit and work with event vendors and volunteers
• implement the organization's strategic plans and marketing strategies
• assist with the organization's human and financial resources including budget preparation
• explore fundraising opportunities via support from private and public sources
• create promotional materials
• act as a liaison with the media
• provide regular detailed reports of tasks undertaken and accomplishments

The successful candidate must

• have fluent communication skills in English
• have computer skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
• be familiar with Raleigh area arts agencies, prior grant writing experience is desirable
• possess own transportation
• be able to work flexible hours as most board meetings take place after hours or during weekends
• be authorized to work in the U.S.

The applicant should be an innovative and energetic team player who can work under pressure and multi-task effectively. The candidate must be willing to work long and flexible hours immediately prior to events and shorter hours between events. The compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.
